Documentary on liberation Nuenen on local television station

posted 29 Sep 2013, 01:36 by Edwin Popken   [ updated 29 Sep 2013, 01:44 ]

The past few weeks Battlefield Discovery participated in the production of Lokale Omroep Nuenen on the liberation of the municipality of Nuenen in September 1944. This documentary is shown on local television as from today.
To many people the history of the liberation of Nuenen is closely depicted in the Band of Brothers series about the American parachute unit Easy company of 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment. Not many realise that many more units fought in Nuenen on several places and for several days. In all about 3 companies and a detached platoon of American paratroopers, 1 British tank battalion and 3 other tank squadrons, plus 1 British battalion of motorized infantry fougth hard to dislodge a German panzer brigade and a German parachute battalion. This documentary explains how the battle around Nuenen and the sister villages of Gerwen and Nederwetten evolved.

New tours by Battlefield Discovery

posted 26 Aug 2013, 09:10 by Edwin Popken   [ updated 26 Aug 2013, 09:10 ]

We extended our line of standard battlefield tours with some new tours in the Ardennes and Operation Veritable/Blockbuster. The Ardennes Offensive or Battle of the Bulge will hardly need further introduction, but Veritable/Blockbuster is a much missed page of World War Two history. This seem strange as the battle for the Rhineland was a hard fought battle many times in appalling conditions. It was the largest tank battle in western Germany and opened the way to attack across the Rhine.
Please visit our Battlefield Tours page for our new and other tours.

Standard tour dates for summer months published

posted 13 Jun 2013, 01:40 by Edwin Popken

I regularly received the question if Battlefield Discovery also offers prearranged dates for the battlefield tours. In order to meet this demand a number of dates are planned for several of the battlefield tours. You can now easily book a tour on a prearranged date also. Have a look a the tour planning page to see when the battlefield tours are planned.

This does not mean that the battlefield tours cannot be given at any other dates. Other dates are and remain possible as a service of Battlefield Discovery, like you have always been used to!! So if none of the prearranged dates fit your own schedule but you do want to book a tour ... just contact me to discuss possibilities.
