Market Garden - Veghel-Schijndel-Koevering by bike

While the bulk of 101st Airborne landed at Sonse Heide, 501 PIR landed at Eerde and Heeswijk, the latter being misdropped some kilometers to the north of the actual DZ. Their job was to seize Veghel and the bridge over the canal. What seemed to turn into an easy job at the start, evolved in vicious fighting around Veghel and Eerde. The Germans choose these parts for several of their fiercest counterattacks, severing the road to Nijmegen and Arnhem several times.
In this tour we will cycle around these battlefields. We will stop on different locations relating the stories of fierce and more than once also desperate fighting to keep the road open.
